Route 440 EB Ramp to State Street and High Street Redecking, Perth Amboy

Project Information

Ramp V is the last exit ramp on Route 440 towards Outerbridge Crossing providing access to State Street and High Street in Perth Amboy. The ramp was constructed in 1972 and the structural deck requires replacement. This 2-lane ramp crosses over Boggs Street, West Side Avenue, State Street and NJ Transit providing access to the industrial area and refineries on State Street. The Average Daily Traffic on the ramp is 9,620 vehicles per day.

The project will reconstruct Ramp V bridge deck. The proposed structure will be 4’-4” wider than the existing structure.

During construction only one lane will be maintained on the ramp. Detours will be required as shown in the link below.

Detour

The project requires the following detours -

1. During construction, the exit ramp from Grove Street to State Street and High Street is closed at Francis Street. Use Route 440 exit as detour.
2. When High Street Exit is closed on Ramp V, follow State Street detour.
3. When State Street Exit is closed on Ramp V, follow High Street detour.
